A ‘Ten’ Out of Ten: The Trump-Russia Summit in Pictures

Olivia Pero •   August 17, 2025

President Donald Trump rated his conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin a “ten” out of ten after the two met in Alaska on Friday for peace talks regarding the Ukraine war. Russia is also suggesting great progress has been made.

The U.S.-Russia summit took place at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage, Alaska.

While neither Trump nor Putin said what the specific outcome of the summit was, Trump emphasized the need for a second meeting with both Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy—which Putin has refused to do so far.

Here’s a look at Friday’s historic meeting.

Before and during the historic summit, protesters gathered in Alaska, blasting Putin for his war against Ukraine and Trump for being a stooge of the Russian strongman.

Trump returned to Washington without the ceasefire he’d been seeking, but with plans to meet Monday at the White House with Zelenskyy with a focus on negotiating a comprehensive peace.
